Wisner Market Opening Day (2012-06-07)
So excited for tomorrow! It is Opening Day of Wisner Market. Tomorrow will mark the 16th anniversary of Elmira's signature summer event. We have vendors that have been with us from the beginning, those who had a guest appearance last yeat that have commited to the whole season this year,the vendors I'm most excited about are our new vendors, those who called us and have gone through the whole application process with us and will be there with us tomorrow! Lunch in the Park, Music with lunch and so many different vendors, fresh produce, hand made jewelry, flowers, baked goods, there will be activities for the kids and information about RiverFest 2012...There is so much going on at Wisner Market, I'll see you in the Park!

Kind of sad that today is my last day in the office for the semester, I've had a lot of fun working here and it's been a great learning experience as well! I know Jennifer and Lizz are going to miss me ever so terribly, but I will be coming back a few times a month over the summer to continue working on a few projects for next year, and of course (as I'm reminded every day), to help out with the Street Painting Festival!
I'm very excited for everything that we are working on for next year, and I hope that we will be able to continue to build on this year's success. Actually, scratch that. I'm confident next year is going to be a big year.
I look forward to being able to continue working with EDD and all of the wonderful people I have had the pleasure of meeting, but for now, its time for a little vacation! Moving back home tonight and then leaving on Sunday to spend 2 weeks in Peru!

Weekend! (2012-04-27)
So excited for this weekend! Starting the weekend off tonight with the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes Chamber Series concert at the Chemung Valley History Museum starting at 7:30pm. They will feature latin music (complete with classical guitar) and selections of music that connects with the museum's "Made in Chemung" exhibit. Saturday, April 28 is Arbor Day! I'm beyond happy that there is an Arbor Day Celebration here in Elmira complete with planting trees at Brick Pond starting at 10am. Bring the family, all kids will receive a seedling to plant at home and Arbor Day goodies! See you Downtown!
Cash Mob (2012-04-26)
We have our next Cash Mob scheduled for May 9, just in time for Mother's Day. The purpose of a Cash Mob is to bring awareness of shopping local and to give a little economic stimulus to that business. We hope that you can join us
Elmira Downtown's First Blog (2012-04-26)
Welcome to Elmira Downtown's first ever blog. We are entering into the nice weather here in upstate New York and that means soon we will be cleaning up downtown at Downtown Clean UP, Wisner Market will open, The 5th Annual Elmira Street Painting Festival will transform our city into a work of art and the Twin Tiers Jazz Festival will bring a taste of New Orleans into the heart of Elmira! We are excited about these events and we will see you Downtown!
