Elmira Art Walk
Elmira Downtown Development aspires to cultivate a unique community identity that advances the City of Elmira as a vibrant and progressive destination. Elmira's diverse collection of permanent and temporary public art (Elmira Street Painting Festival) complements the revitalization of our city through place-making, installations, and infrastructure enhancements. Instrumental in re-launching the first public art installation in 2014 with the City of Elmira through Elmira POP Art - these pieces promote artistic expression, bringing people together to strengthen Elmira's sense of community and place. Projects such as Elmira POP Art and Elmira Infinite Canvas strengthens relationships and builds connections within the arts, community, and city. Programming occurs in diverse locations around the city and shares the voices, perspectives, and experiences of our community.
Elmira POP Art is made possible, in part with public funds from NYSCA's Decentralization Program, administered regionally by The Arts Council of Southern Fingers Lake. The organization says "Thank You" to The ARTS and our many business sponsors within our community that supports EDD's programs and services.
What's next? The Downtown Art Walk is part of a larger project - partnering with Chemung County Chamber of Commerce - launching a multi-county public art trail that will include Steuben, Schuyler, and Tioga - a self-guided public art brochure/map. Mural installations with the theme "Taking Flight" will be popping up in Chemung County.
